• Agora stage

  • Space of ideas and debates, the Agora stage will propose, at the crossroads of the squares knowledge and Religion, Culture & Society, a program dedicated to the decoding of the great contemporary stakes that nourish the essay's editorial actuality.

Researchers of all walks of life, recognized or emerging, will be together for four days to reflect and explain together the questions that inform our era through a series of interdisciplinary meetings, in various formats, and based on the sharing of points of view between human sciences, and religions.

As a sounding board of thoughts and movements capable of marrying the whirlwinds of time, the Agora stage will offer a journey of discovery and original reflection to question the many aspects of a rich present.

    • Crossovers lines These encounters contrast religious or lay viewpoints about a scientific, social, cultural or political topic, their crossovers and potential synergies.

    • False Questions? lines When new voices in research question the contemporary assumptions fuelling current political, social and economic thought and debate. The aim of this session is to encourage discordant voices to tackle the social codes which will underpin tomorrow’s society.

    • Topical essays lines One hour to explore the essays making the news in Spring 2019.

    • Vice-versa lines These encounters allow the audience to witness a unique discussion between a scientist and a creative (painter, producer, poet, etc.) who through their past or present work is exploring their interlocutor’s area of knowledge.

    • The news unwrapped lines This session brings together the diverging opinions of two intellectuals concerning an internationally topical issue, to reveal exactly what is at stake.

    • The Quest for Society lines Are we really aware of the choices we make in terms of consumption, leisure, etc.? Investigative authors discuss issues rarely published in the media but which will one day colour our view of the world…

    • Tomorrow’s world lines The Tomorrow's world sessions look into the future to imagine what tomorrow’s world will be like, in the light of scientific and technological progress (transhumanism, web 3.0, augmented reality, etc.) and its limitations.

    • Between the lines Shifting people’s points of view is the aim of these commented readings during which a scientist takes a fresh look at a scientific topic on current high school and vocational college curricula.

    • Critical eye lines A series of encounters with 3 high school students and a moderator to question and discuss concepts with a scientist whose latest publication reflects their curriculum, concerning the issues of citizenship and living together.
